Food and Beverage Consulting
Michael Holtzman received his BS in Restaurant Management from California Polytechnic University in Pomona, California, and now has over 35 years of restaurant industry experience. His focus has been on improving the sales, quality, and profitability of food service operations.
Mike is a hands-on operator with experience in all aspects of food service. In particular, he has worked with more than 390 facilities in 48 states, Canada, Jamaica, Asia and the Middle East. Mike is President of Profitable Food Facilities, a company specializing in captive market restaurant locations including Private Country Clubs, City Clubs, Yacht Clubs, High End Daily Fee Courses, Golf Resorts, Ski Resorts, Waterparks, Theme Parks, Casinos and Day Spas.
PFF is recognized worldwide as Mike spoke in 2013 for the 7th year in a row at the Asian Golf Conference in Jakarta, Indonesia. He was the only speaker discussing the topic of maximizing foodservice sales and profits. CMAA also just opened a chapter in Asia and PFF has been asked to provide all of the food and beverage education for the chapter. He has also spoken at the national CMAA conference in the USA in 1998, 2001, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. He has also presented 38 times at CMAA regional conferences over the past 16 years.
In the past 18 months, PFF worked with more than 35 golf clubs and Country clubs including:
- Congressional CC (Ranked the #1 Country Club in the United States)
- East Lake Golf Club (host of the final FEDEX cup tournament)
- Waialae CC (host of the PGA Sony Open in January)
- Farmington CC in Virginia (Ranked #20 in the top 100)
- Scioto CC in Ohio (Ranked #24 in the top 100)
- DC Ranch CC in Arizona (Ranked in the top 100)
- Round Hill Club in Connecticut (Ranked in the top 100)
- Union League of Philadelphia (Ranked #1 city club in the USA)
- The American Club in Singapore (Ranked the #1 club in Malaysia)
These 35 clubs have saved over 12 million dollars by working with PFF in just 18 months. Other projects include Cog Hill Golf Club, host of the Fed Ex Open in September and Baltusrol CC, host of the PGA Championship in 2005 and 2014, and Poppy Hills Golf Club in Pebble Beach, host of the AT&T championship.
Recently, two clubs that we consulted with shared their financial success after implementing our recommendations. Forsyth CC in North Carolina and Weeburn CC in Connecticut were subsidizing their F&B operations by more than $300,000. In just 9 months, Forsyth CC is now turning a profit and Weeburn CC has had a $400,000 turn-a-round. PFF is committed to transforming the club model while providing the best possible experience for every club member.
